It’s hard to think about December and Christmas when thermometers are hitting record highs so many places. Alma even caught Santa taking a little break and rendered this likeness of him hanging out and trying to stay cool.
I created a little beach scene for the Big Guy using off cuts of a gel print for the water and kraft cardstock off cuts for the beach. The sky was created with a cloud stencil and tumbled glass distress ink on white cardstock.
I printed Santa and his Tropical Tiki Drink (from Tequila) which has been altered to contain his favorite, a peppermint candy cane (from Santa Gnomie). They were printed and cut using the Silhouette Design Studio (SDS) and Cameo. Don’t you just love the options you have with these digital designs?
I knew I wanted to use the rectangular frame for the sentiment and being a newbie to the digital world, I took a little time and was able to print my sentiment on white cardstock and electronically cut it out and then layer it on the same frame cut just a little larger. While I was learning, I also resized and cut all these sentiments for future use –
Next is a gift tag made with the same digital set. In both projects, Santa’s board shorts were paper pieced and the rest of him, his tiki drink, and beach towel were colored with Copic Markers. The palm tree was cut from cardstock using the Cameo. To do that, I imported the digital image into SDS and used the eraser tool to remove the tree trunk. The leaves where then cut from dark green cardstock. I used the same method to free up the trunk and cut it from light brown cardstock. After it was all put together I created a few details with Copics. The images were glued to one of the tags, a pre-created sentiment was added as well as a bit of Baker’s Twine .
The following Copic Markers were used –
beach towel, glasses – R14, R27, R29
skin – E21, E11, E13
beard – C0, C1
Palm tree – E23, E25, E29
Tiki drink – E35, E37, E39, G14, R14, R29
I created a card, a tag, 35 more blank tags of various shapes and sizes and 5 matted sentiments, all in one evening thanks to the magic of digitals! Thanks for taking a look!
