Easter Gnome & FlutterBy two

4 / 6 / 214 / 6 / 21

Hey there, Easter Peeps! Leigh O’Brien here! Well, it’s post-Easter but I wanted to share a couple of Alma’s new digis. I AM HAVING SO MUCH FUN with these. (If only I didn’t have to act like the normal people and go to work every day there’d be so much more time to play!) The really awesome thing is that everything is a bit customizable…size ’em, erase parts, relocate parts, separate parts then print and cut on your cutting machine. It’s freeing!! Now, not all images can be fully manipulated and you want to save the integrity of the TCP image designs but it IS really great to have some options in making the images work for what your mind envisions.

Easter Gnomie CloserAll of that being said, I created two Easter cards this weekend. This first card features the MY FAVORITE PEEP digi. Such a cute little gnomie and chick. With some finagling I separated the chick from the gnome so that I could print and cut a bunch of little chicks. I flipped them horizontally as well so that they’re facing different directions.

Hoppy Easter

On my second card I used the FLUTTERBY digi set. I’ve always been partial to these big eared bunnies! On this one, I opened the file twice into my Silhouette software, flipped one image horizontally, and placed them so that they’re frolicking for butterflies. I’m still practicing on getting the sentiments printed in the right sizes. I used the “Just Fluttering By To Say Hi” sentiment on the inside and just used a font on my computer for the front sentiment. The grass die in the SLIMLINE BASICS CutUps and my favorite cloudy patterned paper (an oldie from October Afternoon) finish it up.

I’m still trying to learn the ins and outs of the digi stamps and cutables AND how my Silhouette works but I’m definitely recommending it. It’s super cool! Try it!

We picked the winner of the VERY last TCP Tuesday Challenge. The WINNER of a $50 gift voucher is Faith A. Please contact admin (admin at  thecatspajamasrs dot com) to claim your prize. Congratulations!

Don’t forget there’s a SALE going on over here. And because it’s APRIL, the discount has increased to 30% off all in stock stamps, dies, stencils and embellies. Once they are gone, they are all gone.

Coffee Lovers Hop

3 / 19 / 213 / 19 / 21

Coffee lovers

It’s the yummiest time of the year. It’s the start of the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Hop and I’m happy to say that The Cat’s Pajamas is one of the Super Sponsors. A lot of The Cat Packers are playing along, including me!

If you are like me, you start each day with a strong cup of coffee. But, lately, since it’s been colder that usual, I make it a little bolder with a splash of homemade Irish Creme. (Recipe below) It’s not A PURE Irish coffee. It’s a LITTLE Irish… 🙂

Irish Coffee

And, if you are also like me, you need a little boost to get going. Mine was a favorite sketch from Julee Tilman’s Mojo Monday. I used one of our NEW Digi, Irish Coffee Gnome, and edited the digi a bit to make it less St. Paddy’s Day and more “Day after”. The sentiment also comes in the digi set, and I typed up the word “coffee” and reversed it out. Love the extra dimension it gives to the card.

I thought it needed a bit of bling, so I colored several pearl embellies with copics. This card came together really quickly, even the fussy cutting, which I let my Silhouette do. And, then, I just enjoyed coloring! It’s been some time since I did that.

Want to know how I edited out the out the shamrock using a FREE program you can download online? Click on the picture below, or here.

Erasing

Here’s the Homemade Irish Cream Recipe from Allrecipes
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 ⅔ cups Irish whiskey
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

In a blender, combine heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, Irish whiskey, instant coffee, chocolate syrup, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Blend on high for 20 to 30 seconds. Store in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator. Shake well before serving.

Easy Peasy, Right? It’s so good! And I can make it to my taste, which happens to be a little more Irish.

Now, head on over to the Coffee Loving CardMaker’s Blog and check out how easy it is to play along and win prizes. The hop runs from Friday, March 19 – Friday, March 26, 2021

Create A Fast and Easy Slimline Concertina Card

1 / 27 / 211 / 27 / 21

I’ve gotten quite a few requests to do a how-to on my Slimline Concertina card that I made for the January Blog Hop.

So, I thought that I’d tell you how I did it and I created a little video to make things easier. This card is really easy to make and slimline cards are so easy to make.

Base

  1. Start with a cardstock base of 10.5” x 8″
  2. Along the 10.5” side score at 3.5” x 7″
  3. At the bottom right of the card, measure up 3.5” and mark with a tic
  4. Cut from the upper left of the card base to the right tic.
  5. Accordion fold along the scoreline with the short side to the right side.

Mats

  1. Cut 1 piece each @ 3.25” x 7 5/8”, 3.25” x 6 1/8” and 3.25” x 4 5/8″
  2. On the 3.25” x 6 1/8”, on the long side measure down on the left side 1 3/8” and make a tic. Cut from the tic to the upper right corner.
  3. On the remaining pieces, on the long side measure down on the right side 1 3/8” and make a tic. Cut from the tic to the upper left corner.

Patterned Paper

  1. Cuts 1 piece each @ 3” x 7 3/8”, 3” x 6 7/8” and 3” x 4 3/8″
  2. On the 3” x 6 7/8” on the long side measure down on the left side 1 3/8” and make a tic. Cut from the tic to the upper right corner.
  3. On the remaining pieces, on the long side measure down on the right side 1 3/8” and make a tic. Cut from the tic to the upper left corner.

Adhere the mats onto the folded base. And repeat with the patterned paper on top of the mats.

Now the fun part. Stamp, color and cut out the gnomes and mushrooms using our Welcome Gnome Stamp Set. From green cardstock use the Grassy Patches CutUps to cut various sizes of grass.

Embellish along the top edge of the Concertina card.

Stamp the sentiment “Don’t stop Believing” from the Live Love Bark Stamp Set on the inside of the card

From green cardstock, cut the scalloped diamond from the Fancy Flip Frames CutUps and stamp the sentiment “Have a little Faith” on the it. Use a white pen to doodle on the type and on the panel. Adhere with foam tape.

Now that you have the measurements it’s easy to make it. If your eyes started to glaze over when you got halfway through the instructions, like mine did. I’ve created a video, to make things easier. 😉

This card is perfect for Spring and perfect for our Think Spring TCP Tuesday Challenge. (See how I did that? Good lead in to the challenge, eh?)

Whelp! There is still time to enter our TCP Tuesday Challenge and you could win a $50 gift voucher for our website. Just make a card, (maybe a Concertina Card, now that you know how to make one) and enter it by adding it to the InLinkz at the bottom of this page.

Good Luck!

January Blog Hop

1 / 25 / 21

January Blog Hop

Happy January Blog Hop Day! I hope that you’ve been enjoying our week long mini-hops and that they’ve given you a little inspiration as to what our January Collection might do in your own inky fingers.  I’m the last person on the hop, so if you’ve come from Kerry Urbatch’s blog you are in the right place. If you didn’t click on over to Julee Tilman’s blog to start off at the beginning.

SunPlease

For my hop offering, there were so many cute stamps I couldn’t do just one card, so I decided to do two. First off is this cutey patootie stamp from the Sun, Please Stamp Set. I LOVE the size of these little mice, they are easy to color and the FREE Cutting file makes them easy to cut around.

Once I colored in the little mouse I added dots of white to add more texture to the umbrella and handle. I stamped the sentiment in tangerine versa fine ink and used the white pen to add more depth to the sentiment.

The stitched clouds were a last minute addition. I thought needed something in that area because of the flowered gems I added to bottom corner. I used foam tape to give everything a little depth and finished it off by adding shadows with my grey marker.

For my second card I did a slimline concertina card using the sentiment from the Live, Love, Bark Stamp Set, the NEW Welcome Gnome Stamp Set and the NEW Grassy Patches CutUps.

I üsed one of the dies from the Fancy Flip  CutUps  for the sentiment and added more white pen to the letters and to doodle on the edge. I also stamped a sentiment on the inside

Was it simple? You bet. Will I show you how? Of course. In the meantime, check out the card in action by clicking the picture above.

January Sneaky Peek#6

1 / 23 / 21

Sun Please

It’s Day #6 of Sneaky Peek Week and we’ve got a darling NEW stamp set called Sun, Please. If, you are like me, you can’t get enough sun, especially when it’s cold outside. Cold and rainy weather doesn’t bother these 3 little mice, though.

Sun, Please is available now, along with the rest of our January Release. If you can wait until Jan 26, and want the entire release, or all the stamps, you can get them at a discount.

This uber cute card by Brenda Nakandakari just makes my heart go pitter patter. Brenda stamps the big Hello and adds a sprinkling of hearts. The sweet little mouse is walking a little ladybug and placed on a background filled with hearts. I just think it’s adorable.

Sun Please
Sun Please

Here’s a closer look at Sun, Please. It comes with 3 mice and 4 sentiments to go with. If you have an electronic cutting machine, you can get the cutting files for the mice in this set for FREE here.

Sun Please

This little mouse is ready for the rain! Nancy Thomas stamps up so much cuteness and has him standing in the tall grass. This hand-drawn little mouse and his friends are perfect for coloring with colored markers or watercolors.

This little cutie looks like he’s sharing some words of wisdom with his friend the ladybug. Kerry Urbatch creates a stunning background that perfectly offsets this simple sweetness of the imageJulee Tilman uses our Great Outdoors stencilz to create this simple but stunning background, along with the raindrops from the Sun, Please Stamp Set. It’s a great background that captures the sentiment and the main image perfectly.

There is so much more to see. Check out eack of the blogs below for a closer look and comment on each of them. You could win a $10 gift voucher. We’ll pick a winner each day this week from the comments on the blogs and post the winners here and on our Facebook page.

January Sneaky Peek #5

1 / 22 / 211 / 22 / 21

Live Love Bark

It’s Day #5 of Sneaky Peek Week and today we are spreading a little LOVE with this cute Live, Love, Bark Stamp Set. This little one reminds me of a special little gal that my friend Robert had. Madison was truly a wonderful little girl, with so much personality. But, it it also reminds me of my beloved Sam, who I lost last year. He was always good natured and was my constant companion throughout the day, giving me his opinion with a smile or an eye roll. I miss him terribly.

Live, Love, Bark is available now, along with the rest of our January Release. If you can wait until Jan 26, and want the entire release, or all the stamps, you can get them at a discount.

This sweet puppers reminds us to don’t stop believing (your mail will get delivered?) Kerry Urbatch’s cute card nestles this little puppy in a bouquet of ribbons and hearts. The eyes on this puppy just make the whole card pop.

Live, Love, Bark
Live, Love, Bark

Live, Love, Bark is a stamp set that features a darling Boston Terrier in 4 different poses along with 4 different sentiments

Here’s a sweet card from Christine Okken. She gives a little Bubble Therapy to this sweet boy. All those bubbles make it fun to bathe him. Or you can tell yourself that.

If you like this stamp set, you might want the matching dies. They make things easier to add dimension and create a scene without having to mask. If you get both of them in a bundle, you get a 10% discount on the two

Here’s what I mean. Stamped on the matching die, this exercising Terrier sits up nice and pretty from the background. Melissa Chipperfield puts a little foam behind him for more dimension.

Nancy Thomas mixes her Puppy Mail with a stamp from the 4 Seasons Duo Dies and the Rectangle Stamp CutUps Die. It’s a cheery match with the red gingham paper

Hopefully you don’t have this much laundry. Leigh O’Brien pulls off some masking magic with this puppy in the laundry basket. Stamped over and over, this stamp is perfect for filling up the space of a slimline card.

Want to see more? The Cat Pack is pulling out all the stops. Check out the blogs below for a peek at how they used Live, Love, Bark. Comment on each of them and you could win a $10 gift voucher. We’ll pick a winner each day this week from the comments on the blogs and post the winners here and on our Facebook page.
