What’s on your desk? Pt 5

11 / 27 / 1311 / 27 / 13

As promised, here are the last FOUR cards that I made on my marathon session working on the TCP Tuesday Challenge.

Just to recap, the challenge was “What’s on your desk?” That is, stamp one card, THEN create two cards from what is left on your desk.TCPTuesdayI know I like to cut a piece of paper here, stamp a stamp there, fiddling with this and that until I come up with something. I never realized how much “stuff” that was generated by this method until this challenge. I actually made SEVEN cards in total. Good news, is that I actually made SEVEN cards in total! 😉 Best news? I made a small dent in my Holiday cards.

DamaskThis one I LOVE! But it was harder to come up with than I thought.  I pulled out the Simply Holiday set, and layered the sentiments up. Used white detail embossing powder to get more detail and a white gel pen for the edges. The white dots are a stamp in the Vintage Holiday set. I think they make great snow. But, the fancy damask paper was a sheet from a journaling book that I cut up because it was too big.

FlakesThis was a version of one of the cards that I created that I showed yesterday using Let the Flakes Fly. And, this time I used a different Holiday Toppers for the background. I really like the way the musical notes float like snow in the background.

OrnamentsThis one was a quickie! I cut the big ornament from a strip of paper and the other die cut just a portion of the die. So, I decided to use it! There it is at the bottom. Then I used the oval from the Framed Up CutUps and stamped the oval from the Vintage Holiday set. Just fits perfectly! Did I plan it that way when I designed the CutUps?  Um. Maybe.

ScrollHere is the last card from my session. Using the same box of stamps from Simply Holiday. The pickings were getting pretty slim on my desk, but it was still enough to pull out this card. The main patterned paper is another page from that old journaling book.

NOW! Get stamping! There is only a couple of days left. Better yet, stamp a card and leave the fixings on your desk. Then, tomorrow, send your family and guests over to your desk to create a card. Don’t forget to take pictures!

Here are the Deets.

What’s on your desk? Pt. 4

11 / 26 / 1311 / 27 / 13

It’s the VERY LAST Tuesday of the Month! The Challenge, if you choose to accept it,  is to stamp ONE card. Then, from what you have left on your desk, create 2 more cards.

TCPTuesdayI must say. I realized that used a lot of paper and “stuff” when I created a card. But, I never realized HOW much “stuff” I cut and snipped and stamped, just to get the “perfect card”. I am almost embarrassed to say that I had enough “stuff” on my desk after making the first card, that I had enough to make 6 more cards.

CelebrateIt started innocently enough, with this card I created for my favorite football fan using the Go! Fight! Win! stamp set, the Framed Up and Dots CutUps and the Celebration Toppers. His team is the Calgary Stampeders, so I used their colors. I wanted a masculine card so instead of sewing in the clouds, I drew in Xs and Os and so it was sort of like a play diagram. This one was a hard one for me. I had to put it down a couple of times and really think about it. So, while I was “chewing” on this one, I make this one.

2ndThis one was sooooo simple. I pulled out the Simply Holiday set, and layered the sentiments up. Used white pigment ink for a soft chalky look. Those banners are something you will see a lot of. They are the perfect way to use each little scrap. I hid the top of the banners with a bit of Cranberry Seam Binding.

ChalkovalHere is number three in the picture above. I used the Framed Up CutUps and the Holiday Toppers on top of that. It’s a perfect background for the sax playing Snowman from Let the Flakes Fly. And, to pull it all together, the oval from Vintage Holiday done in chalkboard style.

Those are three of the seven cards I created for this challenge. Come back tomorrow and see the other FOUR.

TCP Tuesday November PJ1 _Nancy 11-12-13In the meantime, check out these cards from Nancy. She posted them earlier this month, but I thought that they deserved a bit of highlight love from me. They are AMAZINGLY beautiful, don’t you think? She used the Vintage Holiday stamp set as her main set. So very pretty. You must go to her website and take a peek.

Now get stamping and DON’T clean off your desk. Let’s see what you can do.

What’s on your desk, pt 3!

11 / 19 / 1311 / 26 / 13

It’s TCP Tuesday! It’s the week before Thanksgiving, and I am so Thankful that you are here sharing it will me. So, as a thank you, The Cat Pack has been busy stamping up some wonderful projects for you for this month’s TCP Tuesday Challenge

TCPTuesday

The Challenge, if you choose to accept it,  is to stamp ONE card. Then, from what you have left on your desk, create 2 more cards. (Ha!) If you are like me, I create a card, I cut and stamp enough for several. This challenge is a way for you to use those bits and pieces and create 2 more cards. It’s a way for you to get more bang for your buck and get your creative juices going.

Nancy11-19-13BLet’s start with the STUNNING cards that Nancy did. Love the snowman from the Let the Flakes Fly stamp set strumming his way into the Holidays. She used the snowflake from the Snowflake Lace CutUps, and used the Holiday CutUps from the Celebration Toppers.

Nancy 11-19-13CThis card uses the other die that you get in the Celebration Toppers, and the other snowman from the Let the Flakes Fly stamp set. Those snowmen are just beautifully colored. And, that red ribbon adds the perfect burst of color.

Nancy 11-19-13dI am totally in love with Nancy’s third card! She uses the Dots CutUps with and embossing pad and turns her die into and embossing plate. That’s a way to get more for your money!

Noelle19

If you are like me, you can’t wait for Spring. And, these three cards by Noelle just fit the bill. I’m totally in love with the scrappy look of these cards.

Noelle19bHere was the first card that Noelle designed. She used a couple of stamp sets for her card, as well as a whole lot of CutUps, and that is what makes this card so special. Nesting, Tied Up, Admit One and the Bitty Banners, and Big Ticket CutUps work so beautifully on this card.

NoellecHere is Noelle’s second card. For this beauty of a card she used the Big Ticket and Circus Border CutUps and the Admit One stamp set. I am loving her use of colored ink. I have so many colors of ink, but I always seem to stamp in black. Noelle’s cards are so inspiring, I may have to pull those colored inks out.

Noelle19dHere’s Noelle’s third card. She uses the Nesting, and Admit One stamp set and the Bitty Banners and bits of paper and washi tape. Stunning.

Kelly19

And speaking of stunning….Kelli’s sophisticated Christmas cards using J*lly H*liday are elegant and classic. They are so rich looking, you need to take a closer look.

Susan19

Susan’s Holiday tags use Homemade for the Holidays mixed in with a bunch of sugar and spiciness that is quintessential Susan. These would be perfect adorning a holiday gift or on a card.

Lori19 Lori’s trio uses Peace, Joy and Penguins featuring the troublesome trio. They are always fun, and never boring. And, Lori’s classic cards are inspiring in their simplicity. Just perfect to case when you need to stamp up one or a hundred.

Now get stamping and DON’T clean off your desk. Let’s see what you can do.

TCP Tuesday Challenge: What’s on your Desk?

11 / 12 / 13

It’s TCP Tuesday and I’m so glad you are here to get inspired. The Cat Pack has been working their magic on the NEW TCP Tuesday Challenge. Pour yourself a cuppa, because there is lots to savor.

TCPTuesday

This month’s challenge is a FUN one. And, perfect for the Holidays, if you haven’t started stamping, yet. The Challenge is to stamp ONE card. (Yay!) Then, from what you have left on your desk, create 2 more cards. I’ve been trying to shake off a nasty flu for the last two weeks to try to get inspired, and these cards may just do the trick.

Susan1
Check out Susan‘s cards above. Now take a closer look. She started with this card using the “Go! Fight! Win!” set with the 3 x 3 stars. Love the colors here and the unexpected patterns.

Susan3

Susan, added a second challenge for herself, too. She wanted to make these all sports related. So, she used the “Skating Bunny” for this one.

Susan2Here’s her third using “Just Chillin“. I think these are just AMAZING.

Kimberly3Here is Kimberly‘s take on this challenge. She used “Big Bear” for all her cards, but they all have a distinct look! Love the snowflakes from the Snowflake Lace CutUps she used. They bring a whimsical feel to this card.

Kimberly2If the snowflakes in the last card make it whimsical, the deep red of the seam binding and buttons make this card luxurious and rich.

Kimberly1Here’s Kimberly’s third card. LOVE the tone on tone texture she creates with the Dots background. Truly beautiful!

Are you inspired to create yet? Want more inspiration? Well, Kelli and Lisa have some pretties on their blog.

KelliHere’s a little peek. Click on over to their blogs for a more detailed look.

November TCP Tuesday Challenge!

11 / 4 / 1311 / 5 / 13

It’s the very FIRST Tuesday of the month, and that means that it’s TCP Tuesday. It’s the day that I unveil a brand-spanking NEW challenge for this month. Last month’s challenge was an Anti-Embellishment challenge. I wanted you to really focus on the stamps and paper, so the challenge was to limit yourself to only two embellishments. Oh! And no twine, buttons or bling.

TCPTuesdayI bet many of you let out a BIG sigh of relief when the month turned over. Well, not so fast.

I don’t know about you, but I cut a lot of paper when I make a card. And I stamp a lot, trying different inks or paper piecing or trying different techniques. Fact is, I create so much stuff to make one card, I actually have enough to make three. So, that is the challenge. Huh, you say? The challenge is to create a card and from whatever is on your desk, make two more cards.

LoriMustacheTrio3It can be done. Take a look at Lori‘s cards for Movember using the Mustache Set and the Mustaches CutUps. I’m not sure which was first, but they all are stunning.

LoriMustacheTrio1

Her color palette works really well for the theme and they are graphic and classic. And, you can never have enough masculine cards on hand.

LoriMustacheTrio2How about these three from Lisa featuring the Nesting set? Just beautiful scrappy goodness!

Lisa3
Her color palette is the same, but all the cards are beautifully different.

Lisa2

As a stamper, and owner of *gasp* stamp company, people “expect” hand stamped cards. And, rather than stamp the same card over and over, (I get bored)I find that this a great way to create multiple cards from what you’ve done already, without having to rethink the wheel

Lisa1

If you fall in love with a color palette, or a stamp or combination of papers, this is a way to explore and use up those scraps you have sitting on your desk. (doesn’t that stripe look great with that check?)

So now, you’ve seen what two of our Cat Packers can do with the “What’s On Your Desk? Challenge” Check out Wendy and Jessie for even more takes on this challenge. You’ll be happy you did!

Here are the Deets.

Congrats Christine Okken

11 / 4 / 1311 / 4 / 13

Christine Okken — Swanky Stamper for November

October’s TCP Tuesday Challenge was a doozie! The challenge was an Anti-Embellishment challenge. That meant no twine, no buttons and no bling. That also meant that you were to limit your embellishments to no more than 2. The focus of the challenge was to be on your paper and stamps.

It was a difficult challenge, but Christine Okken’s card featuring one of our discontinued stamps just shined! She used the Toppers CutUps for the pretty border and created a paper bow for an embellishment! Just stunning!

Washi's Up Recipe Swap_thumb[5]And, there were other fabulous entries in this difficult challenge. Like Tammy Herschberger’s fun washi card using the Mustache Set and Mustaches CutUps. What a bright and happy card using NO embellishments.

Tricia

Last month’s Swanky Stamper, Tricia Traxler, also created a wonderful card! She really focused on the Bearing Flowers Stamp Set and paper. Her only two embellishments were the two big brads.

Tricia2

Here is the inside of her card! WHEEE! This is definitely one that I will have to case. Maybe for this next challenge! Come back tomorrow and for the NEW November TCP Tuesday Challenge

Be Dapper, For It’s Movember
Be Dapper, For It’s Movember

Or November, rather. Last month was a month about raising the awareness of Breast Cancer and celebrating the lives of those touched by cancer. This month, it’s about raising awareness of Men’s cancer.

We are proud supporters of the Movember Foundation. The goal of Movember is to “change the face of men’s health.” Movember isn’t just about growing mustaches, but also raising awareness of prostate cancer and other male cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments.

So put your best Mo forward this month, and help spread the word 🙂 Here is how you can get involved

Release Recap!

10 / 30 / 1311 / 1 / 13

I hope you were able to join in our blog hop yesterday, and all the festivities of Sneaky Peek Week. Sneaky Peek Week goes by so fast, that I thought that I’d do a recap of some of the special cards and projects that The Cat Pack and our Swanky Stamper, Linda Nicholson created. So, grab a cuppa and let’s get started.

Sneaky Peek #1Day #1 was “Peace, Joy & Penguins“. And, though it was the very first set we peeked, it was the very last I drew. The Cat Pack came up with some real beauties. Like, Jessica‘s above and Kelli‘s super graphic card below. I love graphic cards for the holidays, not only are the sophisticated, they are perfect when you have to stamp up crazy numbers.

Peace, Joy & Penguins

I don’t know about you, but the Holidays always make me feel a bit nostalgic. So, for Day #2 “Vintage Holiday” was the perfect choice. A nice large set designed to go perfectly with our Framed Up CutUps, this set is a nice mix of old and new.

Sneaky Peek #2Wendy‘s sophisticated card using “Vintage Holiday” the Celebration Toppers, and the Heart Swirl, is just a beauty.

Wendy2Day #3 Brought out the Football fan in us with “Go! Fight! Win!” Lots of fun can be had coloring up the Long-eared bunny in the colors of our favorite team.

Sneaky Peek #3Check out Linda’s card and you’ll see what I mean. I’m not a Broncos fan, but I could be if I got this card in the mail. Love the Dots background and the Bitty Banners! So CUTE!

LindaDay #4 we let loose with a little song, and the Flakes Flew! Literally! “Let the Flakes Fly” features not one, but two jazzy snowmen.Sneaky Peek #4

They are great to color as much as you like, or as little. Just, have fun with them, like Julie did with her card, mixing the Dots background with the star shape from the Ornaments set.Let The Flakes Fly

I don’t know about you, but Fall through Spring, I ALWAYS get a cold of some sort. So far, this season, I’ve been sick twice already. Why not, a Long-Eared bunny to cheer me up?

Sneaky Peek #5

“Bounce Back” was born. I feel a wee bit like him with the ice bag and tissues, since a box of tissues can always be found around me.

Bounce Back

Linda‘s card using the Lacy Floral Doily and “Bounce Back” would certainly cheer me up with its sweet and pretty paper and color scheme.

Sneaky Peek #6“Believe” was the offering for Day #6. The Holidays always mean diets for me, and the rotund penguin is no different. I hope he can make it down the chimney.

TCP-believe penguin cardLisa believes, methinks. She colors up the sweet penguin and has him layered across the Dots background that she has embossed. Love that look.

Sneaky Peek #7Our very last Sneaky Peek is a mix of our Subway Art Lines and Simply Said. There are so many different Holidays and ways to send greetings, I wanted a basic set that could do just that. Like our Simply Said set, I wanted this set, “Simply Holiday” to be a set you reach for year after year.

NancyNancy uses the “Joyeux Noel” banner for this pretty card that also uses the Ornaments CutUps. Minimal stamping in this card, but oh so pretty.

Lisa3And gift tags? You got ’em. Lisa uses the Ornaments CutUps with some of the sentiments from this set for some really pretty tags. These wouldn’t end up in the trash at my house.

Want to see more wonderful cards and projects? Just click on the name of the stamp set and it will take you to it’s page where you can see all The Cat Pack has done.
