Woo Hoo! It’s RELEASE DAY here at The Cat’s Pajamas! I hope you’ve been liking the Sneaky Peeks that The Cat Pack have been doing. But, we aren’t done, yet. No siree.
We’ve pulled out all the stops with a fun Blog Hop. If you came from Lynn Collins‘ blog, you are at the right place. I’m the end of the hop. If you haven’t, go back to the start, to Michele Ferguson‘s blog.
For my showpiece I decided to do a Card in A Box. I used double-sided paper from Authentique.
I’ve been wanting to get my fingers inky ever since I saw the NEW Faboolous Stamp Set, so it wasn’t surprising that I reached for it. I used the FREE Cutting Files for the set so it made it even faster. I attached most of the images and bats with acetate strips.
I wanted the box to be really full, so I added a third insert to the center.
First, came a layer of creepy “fog” of vellum cut with the Balloon & Clouds CutUps. Then, I added the “tombstone”. It’s actually the NEW Halloween Tag Duo with the top cut off. For more color I stamped the “blood” with a stamp from the Watercolor Basics Stamp Set on the base of the tag.
The spooky tree is actually the New Round Tree Die. I took the center and extended the tree limbs with scissors. As a final touch I randomly cut the flaps to look like torn material.
For my second project I wanted to use the NEW Kraft Tubes. They are pretty sturdy, so when pop them open, they want to may want to fold a bit. This is okay if you are going to be covering the tube and the crack doesn’t show. But, for me, I wanted the tubes to show. So, I made sure that I conditioned the paper by running, width-wise, the closed tubes over the edge of a table until the tube easily bents into a “C” shape. Once the reaches that state I can pop the tube open without worrying so much about it cracking.
This tube was put together with all dies. The Beard CutUps, The nose and eyes from the Rudolph CutUps, The eye base from the Birthday Set CutUps, and the buckle was made with the Anywhere Ribbon Slide CutUps. And the eyebrow is the mustache from the Under My Hat CutUps
I hope you liked my projects. They were so much fun to make.
